Frequently and not-so Frequently Asked Questions
How many sizes of tables do you offer?
Currently, we are specializing in one size as our market analysis has shown it is the most popular. It measures 47″ wide by 71″ long with a playing surface of 36″ wide by 60″ long. It is a dining table height of 29.5″. You have the ability to increase the height of the table to counter height of 38.5″. The table seats six comfortably.
Are you going to offer different sizes or styles?
We are currently working through R&D on different sizes and styles. We are working on a smaller table measuring 47″ wide by 59″. These will likely not be available until 2025.
We are also looking at a Hexagonal table.
What materials are used in your tables?
We use many different products:
– solid wood, all procured from within 100 miles of Minneapolis, MN for the frame and rails of the table.
– Medium Density Fiberboard for the playing surface, which is covered by a neoprene game mat and an optional felt reversible side.
– traditional wood glue, small metal brackets, screws, metal buttons to open drawers, small metal hinges, and finishing nails.
– metal legs with bolts.
– epoxy putty for all artistic flair.
– cob lighting, metal channels with plastic covering.
– Danish Oil for finishing the surface.
What is Danish Oil?
Danish oil is a wood finishing product typically made from a blend of oils, including tung oil and/or linseed oil, with added varnish and mineral spirits or other solvents. It is designed to penetrate and protect wood while providing a durable, attractive finish. Danish oil enhances the natural grain and color of the wood, offering a low-luster, satin finish that can be easily maintained and reapplied if necessary.
Is the table Stain Resistant?
Danish oil provides good protection against water rings, mild food spills, and everyday dirt. However, it might not fully protect against more stubborn stains like ink, dyes, wine, or chemicals.
For areas prone to heavy staining, combining Danish oil with other protective measures, such as using coasters, placemats, or protective mats, can help preserve the wood finish.
What do I do if I get a stain?
- Immediate Action:
- Blot the Stain: If the stain is fresh, blot it with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the substance as possible. Avoid rubbing, as this can spread the stain.
- Mild Cleaning:
- Soap and Water: For light stains, mix a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water. Dampen a soft cloth with the soapy water and gently wipe the stained area. Follow with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue, then dry the area thoroughly.
- Tougher Stains:
- White Vinegar or Baking Soda: For more persistent stains, use white vinegar or a paste made from baking soda and water. Apply the vinegar or paste to the stain and gently rub with a soft cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry the area.
- Mineral Spirits: If the stain is still visible, you can try using mineral spirits. Dampen a soft cloth with mineral spirits and gently rub the stained area. This can help remove oil-based stains but may also damage some of the Danish Oil. You may have to reapply Danish Oil.
- Sanding and Refinishing:
- Light Sanding: For deep or stubborn stains that do not respond to cleaning, you may need to lightly sand the stained area. Use fine-grit sandpaper (220 grit or higher) to gently sand the surface until the stain is removed. Be careful to blend the edges of the sanded area with the surrounding finish.
- Reapply Danish Oil: After sanding, reapply Danish oil to the affected area to restore the finish. Follow the original application instructions: apply the oil, let it penetrate, wipe off excess, and allow it to dry completely. Artig uses Watco brand Danish Oil.
- Preventive Measures:
- Regular Maintenance: Regularly maintain your Danish oil finish by cleaning spills promptly and periodically reapplying the oil to keep the wood protected.
By following these steps, you can address stains on wood finished with Danish oil and help maintain the beauty and integrity of the finish.
Where can I find assembly instructions for my table?
We will send you assembly instructions, electronically, after your order and prior to your delivery.
How do I request a custom logo for the table?
When placing your order, please include a file in either .svg, .png, or .pdf formats. If you do not include a file or there are problems with the file you attached to your order, we will reach out to you.
How long to get my table?
We are currently about eight weeks out. This can change dramatically based on demand. A large part of the eight-week timeframe is the finishing of the table as we ensure adequate time for the Danish Oil to cure and, based on humidity and temperature, this can take up to two weeks.
Availability of delivery trucks can also alter the delivery.
Who delivers my table?
Based on availability of our team, and location of the delivery, it may be delivered by Artig’s team.
Otherwise, we utilize LTL shipping options. Once the table is shipped, most people have their table within seven days. You will be given a timeframe of when your item will be delivered but these are estimates only and we advise the shipment may take a day or two longer; this is out of Artig’s control, unfortunately.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we do not. Based on demand, we may offer this in the future. Also, if you live out of the lower 48 of the United States, and are interested in a table, please let us know and we can potentially pass the additional Shipping costs on to you (this is likely $1,000 or more per table).
